Dr. Smythe discusses the symptoms and treatment options for patients with mesothelioma. He gives practical advice to patients for finding the right physician after being diagnosed with mesothelioma. Dr. Smythe also speaks about his research interests in mesothelioma and new trends he believes will emerge in the cancer field over the coming years. Dr. Smythe is currently the chairman of the department of surgery at Scott and White Memorial Hospital as well as the chairman of surgery at the Texas A and M Health Science Center College of Medicine. He holds the Glen and Rita K. Roney endowed chair in surgery and is a professor of molecular and cellular medicine for the medical school.
